Karla Hagenah: My interest to travel to EU and Asia was sparked by my curiosity of world culture during my history classes at high school. I learned so much about the different cultures by travelling across the world. I took the professional waiter course which equipped me to earn good wages and tips and of course free food, drinks and sometimes free accommodation.

The idea of being able to take a course entitled world of travel and tourism really grabbed my attention because it was so rooted in the international cultures we were going to be exposed to. My family wasn't one for taking trips to countries on the other side of the world. It was a big deal for me to even consider doing something like this.

I didn't want to live with a family abroad and wanted to have my own space / room. One day I saw an e-flyer during my internet surfing on online programs. After I researched more about the Academy of Entrepreneurship, I decided to enroll.

It gave me the opportunity to see multiple countries on multiple continents. I was able to travel to Malaysia, Indonesia, Taiwan, Morocco, South Africa, Chile and Dubai. By travelling around the world as free-lance professional waiters, I experiencing multiple countries in a short time you can really compare how people live and their cultures around the world. Besides... how cool is it to say you interact with multiple nationalities while serving in restaurants around the world? The money that I paid for the course I got back on the first night of my dinner serving shift.
